Earn-a-Bike Program
The Earn-A-Bike Program at Chain Reaction Bike Hub is designed to provide community members with the opportunity to earn a bicycle through volunteer work and hands-on learning. Participants will contribute their time and talents to the shop while gaining valuable skills in bike maintenance, repair, and community service. The program promotes self-sufficiency, fosters a sense of accomplishment, and encourages sustainable transportation.
How Earn-a-Bike Works
Volunteer Hours
Participants complete 12 volunteer hours at CRBH, working on a variety of tasks such as bike repairs, shop organization, and assisting with community events.
Skills Development
Throughout the program, participants will receive hands-on training in bike mechanics, learning how to perform basic repairs and maintenance, including fixing flat tires, adjusting brakes, and fine-tuning shifting.
Earn Your Bike
Once the required volunteer hours are completed, participants can choose a ready-to-be-refurbished bicycle from the shop’s inventory, along with a helmet, lock, repair tool, and light. Participants are encouraged to utilize Volunteer Nights and open shop time to finalize tuning up their bike.
